Jaap Hoogstraten has been the director of exhibitions at the Field Museum of Natural History since 2011. He began at the Field Museum in 2000 responsible for exhibitions planning. The exhibitions department at the Field has a staff of sixty and includes project management, traveling exhibitions, content development, 2D and 3D design, media, interactives, and production. He oversees the programming of all temporary exhibitions as well as a robust outbound traveling exhibition program. Recent projects include the complete revitalization of Stanley Field Hall including introducing hanging gardens; the new SUE Experience; Terracotta Warriors, Antarctic Dinosaurs and Máximo the Largest Dinosaur in the World. Major ongoing projects include the community driven, Native North American Hall (2021); The First Kings of Europe (title TBD-2021), and Death a traveling exhibition launching at The Field in 2022.
