Rebekka Federle, (1990, Chicago)
Raised on the south side of Chicago, Federle has lived in Budapest, New Orleans, Kansas City, Portland, and Berlin. Her work analyzes narratives of ancient myths, local folklore and hazy memory, and is articulated with antique printed material culled from each new place she visits. Federle attended the Kansas City Art Institute and received her BFA with Honors in 2014 from the Maine College of Art in woodworking & furniture design.
John T. Upchurch (1968, Chicago)
For the last several years, John T. Upchurch has crafted and appropriated discarded elements and manufactured materials to produce a prolific body of sculptural objects that suggest patent models, specimen collections or curious tools. Upchurch received his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute (1990) where he simultaneously studied and performed in bands - most notably The Coctails. John’s enigmatic sculptures achieve a singular accomplishment in their defiance of scale.
