In a highly visual presentation, Dr. Wendy Greenhouse will provide an overview of her current project – a celebration of the artistic interpretation of Chicago’s built environment and social spaces from the Great Fire to the present. Greenhouse is an independent art historian specializing in American art in Chicago before World War II. Formerly Curator of Paintings and Sculpture at the Chicago History Museum, she has served as a consultant to the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and Terra Foundation for American Art. Greenhouse has written exhibition and collection catalogues as well as articles, reviews, and encyclopedia entries. She has lectured and taught widely and has curated exhibitions. Greenhouse earned her BA History and PhD History of Art at Yale.
